I have not been to Silver Lake Sand Dunes since I was 6 or 7 years old. I basically don't remember the last trip, except that the dunes were very tall and when we went horseback riding, the horse almost threw me off (it probably was more traumatic to my little self than it actually was).
Our parents always give us something together for our birthdays. Sometimes it is a thing, like a Wii, and other times it is a trip. This year it was Silver Lake Sand Dunes (they also are calling it their 25th anniversary trip).

I lead a group of younger girls, ages 13-18, and I want to help them get a jump-start on things that took me YEARS and many struggles to learn. I think most adults want to do that for the next generation. There are SO many things I want to teach these girls, and any middle schooler/teen, but here are three things I wish I'd been taught when I was younger.
We are getting overwhelmed with stuff. Minimalism is all the rage. But a lot of things have precious memories attached to them and it is painful to think about throwing them away. What do we do? I have a great solution for you!
When I started wearing dresses and skirts, I also started wearing leggings. I don't know if it's TMI to say, but I hate my legs touching each other skin on skin!!! It's a weird sensory thing for me. In the summer, there are capri leggings but I still wanted shorts to wear under my skirts and dresses. After many, MANY years, I finally found something that I wish I had found much sooner... Undersummers.
Lemonade is the perfect drink for summer and while I am definitely a fan of the tried and true basic lemonade, I discovered lavender lemonade a few years ago and was HOOKED! I love all things lavender and this was the starting point for my lavender love.
I don't know about you, but my mom is extremely difficult to buy for. What do you get for a mom who has intangible hobbies? If you're like me and always scratching your head on what to get for mom, I have a few ideas for you!
Call me weird but I LOVE spring cleaning my room. I really should do it twice a year but I've been doing my deep cleaning and organizing in April for a long time. There is something so refreshing about doing a room refresh after the winter. I know not everyone loves spring cleaning so I'm going to offer some tips and tricks to hopefully make it easier and more bearable for you.
The weather is getting more like spring in Michigan and that means we can spend more time outside. As a homeschooler, I am used to everything being a means to learn, even taking walks. I remember a fun workshop we did in my co-op where we went on a walk with lists of things to find and it was a contest to see which team of kids could find the most items on the list! But this is an easy activity you can do at home with your own kids.
Mini sessions are a lot of fun but they are different from a full session. There is no reason why you can't have a great mini session but education is the key so today we are going to talk about the ins and outs of mini sessions.
Sometimes I come up with a Feature Friday post and think, "I have to have done that already." It surprises me greatly to go check and, nope, I haven't shared that yet! Grammarly is one of those things. I'm sure you've seen the ads online, but I'm going to share my thoughts and experience with you!

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
