While the weather might stay summery for a few more weeks, summer is pretty much officially over. Most kids are back in school and I am starting to shift my mindset into the "school year mode". I thought it would be fun to do a summer recap along with my August recap. Enjoy!

I've worked with a LOT of children through the years. I've seen a lot of different parenting styles and a lot of personalities. I could write for a long time about my observations and things I've picked up on, but there is one trick I want to share today for people dealing with kids who are stubborn or demanding.
This might be the longest I've felt stuck, creatively. I'm living life and doing fun things and I just feel like I have nothing to offer the community that reads this blog. So I'm showing up to tell you that I've got nothing. I'm sure you'll want to keep reading after that, right?
I don't see the world the way you do.
And I'm not just talking about beliefs and worldview. No, I literally don't see things in the same way that you do and it's all because of my job. But my job changing the way I see the world is not unique to photographers. Everyone's jobs change how they see things. Really, any time you study and spend a lot of time with a subject, it changes how you see things. Fall is most people's favorite time of year to take photos. You can get some beautiful photos of your children with very little effort on your part AND you're making memories all at the same time! That sounds perfect to me :)
I always do a wrap up of my non-fiction books each year but I thought it might be fun to share my favorite books of 2022 so far! Reading is one of my favorite pastimes and I love sharing books with others! We've got some new books that are adding to existing series, new stand-alone novels, and a few re-reads as well, just to round things out!
I enjoy hearing what others are loving and I'm honestly in a creative dry spell when it comes to blog posts, so I thought I'd do a collection of what I've been enjoying lately! I hope you like it and maybe you find something new and fun for yourself!
To make family photos a success, planning is key. The more people you add, the more planning you need! Large family photos don't have to be stressful if you keep a few things in mind. With a little prep work, pictures can be a breeze!
There is not enough summer. I'm all about winter but summer is the time for trips and seeing people and there is not enough time! I have some fun things that will help summer go out with style in August!

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
