Everyone who educates in the photography world teaches about the power and benefits of outsourcing, especially your editing. There are several options when it comes to how you outsource your editing but I want to talk about private editors.

Sometimes, I am mentally and emotionally worn out at the end of a week. I was reading a newsletter (Phylicia Masonheimer's Conlectio. Check it out!) and she was talking about how the heavy of the world and the heavy of her world can get to be too much. She can only handle one heavy at a time. I completely agree. I think that we can get caught up in all the heavy and forget that there is still good. It might take some intentionality to seek it out, but it's there. Or maybe we need to remember what has been. We need to "think on these things".
As hard as it is to believe, fall is almost upon us! For many people, this is their favorite time of year with the cooler weather, colored leaves, and the holidays coming! There are a wide variety of activities that you can do as a family to create fun memories during the fall for little to no money!
I found this article on Boundless.org and knew I needed to share it here. Phylicia Masonheimer has talked about the beauty and power of hospitality for years, and how it is so important for all season of life. She often talks about how she opens her home to married and single friends while she has little children of her own and it's a beautiful and inspiring thing. This perspective is from the single friend, so what I really hear is that we all need to hear, learn, and practice this, no matter our season of life.
Is it just me or are souvenirs so hard to buy? I want something to take home as a memento of my trip, but I don't have a ton of money or space and eventually, socks and t-shirts kind of get old. (If those are your things, more power to you!) My family and I have found some fun, low-cost ways to bring home a memory of our trip that we can all enjoy!
August 19th is World Photography Day! I thought it would be fun to celebrate by sharing photos that I have taken from places I've gone around the country, since I haven't traveled around the world.
Ladies, when we think of doing our hair nicely, we usually think of waves and curls, am I right? I've always loved having my hair curled but did it so rarely because it took SO. MUCH. TIME!!! Basically, I only curled my hair (0kay, had my mom curl it because I'm scared of the curling iron :) for Easter and Christmas. Besides the time commitment, there is the damage to your hair. What if you could get gorgeous curls and waves with no damage and the time can be spent doing other things?
I don't like to reinvent the wheel if I don't have to, so when I came along this thread on Instagram that had AMAZING advice for clients, I immediately reached out to the photographer to ask if I could share her tips with my own audience! This is true community over competition right here, folks!!! If you've ever wondered how what you do or don't do affects the photographer you're working with, wonder no more!
I love seeing before and after examples of other photographers' work! It's amazing how they turn something ordinary into a beautiful piece of artwork! (And I don't mean the clients :) I thought I'd share a few of my own before and afters with you today! These are slideshow format, so please click on over to see the after photo!
This was a little bit of a fail for me. I had a client who was interested in potentially purchasing an album and she wanted to see an example but I didn't have one. I knew I needed to remedy that as quickly as possible! And the process solidified even more how much I love working with White House Custom Colour!!!!

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you!
