Everyone is saying it but it's so true. I can't believe 2022 is over. I had one of the best years I've had in a long time. I got to do so much, see so many things, & have new experiences. When I think back over the year, I can't quite believe that some things happened THIS year. They seem like so much longer ago.

I used to laugh at my friend who knew the birthdays of her neighbor's cousins' friends. Okay, maybe she didn't know that, but it seemed like she knew the birthdays of everyone and many of their friends and relatives. She collected dates.
My collection started with my family and friends and has expanded from there. I'm a collector of dates. What a fabulous year! I look at these photos and I get to remember all the fabulous people I worked with this year. Each session was special and I loved every minute. And this year was a good mix of returning clients as well as brand new clients.
Everyone has their "must-have" traditions. While I know that ultimately we don't actually "need" any of it, our traditions are fun and make the season special. There are some traditions that have fallen by the wayside as we've gotten older, but some I want to continue doing forever!
Here are the things that I look forward to each year when it comes to the Christmas season. Music. I love music. I have very eclectic tastes and I have music playing almost constantly. A day where I listen to no music is a very rare day indeed. With that being said, Spotify is a very fun tool and I love getting my Wrapped every year. And now, I have Premium, which is very exciting and will probably up my listening time for next year.
Who's ready to time travel? Today I am sharing a peek into where I started back in late 2017/early 2018. I cringe a little bit but then I remind myself that I
a) did not know what I was doing and b) was brand new! So I have to give myself grace and just appreciate where I am now. Do you want to see what my first website looked like? These challenges are just that... a challenge, but they are also fun. This one had me looking hard at the world around me. I was noticing the small things, looking closer, watching shadows, looking up and down, just seeing things in a new way. I loved it. I loved how it had me opening my eyes to my world, especially things I see every day.
For better or for worse, this is a busy time of year. I'm not here to debate whether or not we are doing the Christmas season right, but I do think that even in the middle of the busy, and busy is not always bad, we can be intentional in this season. Therefore, I am proclaiming this to be Deliberate December.

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
