With it being graduation season, I thought I should share the story of how I had to talk myself into graduating! Okay, I was going to graduate high school, but I had to decide if I wanted to do the ceremony.

I was taking a walk one day and breathing in the brisk, cold air and thinking how I loved this weather and then I thought, "I was made for cold weather. I am a winter girl."
Do you ever wonder how your life might have been different if something major had happened or not happened? I sometimes wonder how I would be if I had not been homeschooled. We'll never know, but I do have a few thoughts on what may have happened. I'm not intending this to be a bashing of public and private school but I do want to show some of the tremendous benefits of homeschooling.
It's funny how something seems so normal to you but then you start to realize that it really isn't normal at all! That is what's been happening to me as I realize my professional journey has been anything but normal!
At this point, my oddities should not surprise me :) I've always been somewhat strange and it has shown up in my photography business in what I like to do. Some of my favorite things to do or photograph are things that so many other photographers absolutely dread or strongly dislike doing.
Rather than just a list of things I'm thankful for, I thought this year I'd share a list of things that are life-giving to me. When I say "life-giving" I'm talking about things that bring me joy, improve my mood, and bless my life. Little blessings that often go unnoticed. These aren't things that literally sustain my life (that list is rather short - God, oxygen, food, & water pretty much sum it up) but rather the extra things that brighten life.
Back when I was in school, I challenged myself to come up with ten things I liked about spring and fall (my two least favorite seasons). I know, I know, it's practically heresy to say such things, but I've never been "normal" :) A lot of the reasons I used to like fall no longer apply, so I'm doing the challenge again. Let's see how hard it is to find ten things to like about fall!
Sometimes I wonder how I have time to do anything extra when I have so many daily tasks! I'm mostly joking but it's astonishing how many things have to be done every day. Even though I try really hard to do certain things every single day, sometimes things happen and stuff slips through the cracks. I have grace for myself and just start again tomrrow!
I know I love learning fun, odd, unique things about other people (my internet "friends") so I am going to share some things you might not know about me!
I've been on a bit of an old movie binge lately. Think the world of Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, Grace Kelly, and Jimmy Stewart. There is something about the way they acted back then that fascinates me! The women had such grace and the way they talked... no one talks like that these days.
But there is clearly a difference in storytelling because usually when I finish a movie my reaction is, "what was that?" The endings are... odd. And sometimes I REALLY don't like the way the men and women interact with one another. Let's put it this way - I have not added any movies to my established favorites list :) |
Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
