I got to be the photographer for VBS again this year. This is the second time I've done that and it's a unique way to experience the week for sure. You kind of float on the outside of what is going on and you get to see everything but you're not really participating. I don't normally do event photography but it's fun to do something different sometimes because it makes you use different skills and I feel like I am challenged as a photographer.

Summer should not be hectic. The kids are out of school and life takes a different pace. Yes, summer is for vacations and seeing people, but it should also be a time to relax and recharge and rest. I have a few ideas for how you could slow down this summer.
Do you and your friends like to have cookouts? Summertime is made for eating outside with friends. With the kids out of school, summer is the perfect time to slow down and be with people. I hope you do several cookouts with friends this summer and if you do, what should you bring?
Vacations are great but they are also expensive and with gas prices climbing daily, maybe you'll be spending more time close to home this summer. That's okay, you can still have lots of fun! I've collected a list of ideas for fun things to do this summer that you probably wouldn't normally do :)
There are things that, without them, summer just wouldn't feel complete. Which can mean that I feel like something is missing when they don't all happen :) But if I could have a perfect summer each year, these are the things that would be on my list!
Lemonade is the perfect drink for summer and while I am definitely a fan of the tried and true basic lemonade, I discovered lavender lemonade a few years ago and was HOOKED! I love all things lavender and this was the starting point for my lavender love.
Time might be playing with us this year but when it comes to Graham, the year has absolutely FLOWN by! I can hardly believe he is already one!!
I love meeting new clients but I also love getting to work with little kids I already know and love!! I've missed these girls so much over the past four months and I was thrilled to be able to take their birthday photos!!
Yes, we did these the same day as Maggie's senior photos because these are her darling nieces!!! I was SO amazed by these girls! They did such a great job! We let "Aunt Mugga" go first so that they could see what a session was like but they've also done photos before. Hazel is the younger one and she can be slow to warm up but when she has her sister and her aunt around, she is so much better!!! I'm so thrilled to start working with the amazing Class of 2021!! Maggie contacted me in the middle of quarantine to ask if I would be able to do her photos when things calmed down and knowing I had sessions like this coming up helped boost my spirits during quarantine when I couldn't shoot.
It's been three years since I've met Maggie and she constantly surprises me with her spirit. She balances grace and femininity with toughness and a great sense of adventure. To look at her, you wouldn't think this girl was athletic, a Ninja Warrior, and was going into an EMT/firefighter program!! I'm not sure who had more fun with this senior session - Katie or me! I was so excited when she contacted me and told me that water was super important to her! Thankfully, there was a little spot where she could actually get into the water, rather than just having it in the background.

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
