Maybe it's just me, but when a dream dies, I tend to assume it's just dead. I have a bad habit of thinking things can only work one way, getting fixated on that thing, and then, if it doesn't work out, thinking it won't happen at all. Can anyone relate? Let me give you an example.

Happy Christmas! I like to use the British greeting sometimes because I like British things :) 2024 was a very exciting year for me and also a very difficult one. I'm starting to wonder if there is anything like an "average" year. You know, where a few good things and few hard things happen but nothing too extreme. I'm not sure that exists, at least in my life :)
How do you know when you've crossed the line to being an official adult? Is it when you turn 18? What about 21? Or maybe 25 when you can rent a car? While these are all certainly milestones in the adulthood journey, I think it's not a number but a mindset shift. And I've officially crossed it !
"Let's pack up and move to California/She's got lots of friends out there..."
No, I have no plans to move to California, but I do love the song "California" by Hawk Nelson. It was definitely playing in my head while I was out there. What a trip! It's been almost a month and I still feel like I'm processing things. I guess I'll just take you through each day and add photos. Lots and lots of photos! I've had a lot of fun birthdays in my life, but one stands out as the TOP birthday I've ever had. This is year is the 10-year anniversary of that birthday, which is just crazy to me because it doesn't seem possible that it has been that long.
I've started to enjoy remember ten years back and looking at what I was doing. I also cannot believe how fast ten years can go! It seems like some of these things just happened a few years ago :) There are so major events that happened in 2014 and I'm going to be sharing some pictures!!!
Living someone else's life for any period of time is a great privilege. I've gotten to experience it a few times throughout my life and it's an experience for sure. Each time, I learn more about them, myself, and the things I want to do with my own life. Earlier this month was one such opportunity.
I am so ready for a new word and I think my expectations are probably a little too high for this word :) There is a lot of hope wrapped up in this word and I'm very excited.
My "word" for 2023 was "REDEEM & RENEW". You can read all about why I chose it and what I intended to be thinking about with that phrase but, per usual, I ended up being very surprised by what actually happened.
I did something new this year. I made four "goals", which were kind of more like habits that I wanted to build. As the year comes to an end, I wanted to see how I did with those goals.

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
