Two of my friends really like Jordan Lee Dooley and follow her social media. Every so often, they'd send me a quote or something but I never really followed her. Then I heard she wrote a book. A book is a small commitment and I love reading so I was intrigued. Plus, then I could discuss it with my friend :)
Oh. My. Goodness. This book is AMAZING!!!! I was sticky-noting the heck out of it because she just kept saying things that hit me so deeply.

When we went out West several years ago, we went to Meramec Caverns. That cave system you could walk through. Penn's Cave, you rode in a little boat and drove through the cave. There was a lot more light in Meramec Caverns than in Penn's Cave. I'm glad I did it and it was cool (literally and figuratively), but during the ride I was a little uncomfortable, to be honest.
My aunt and uncle and two cousins live in New York. Since we were all small, we've alternated going out there and them coming here to visit. This was our turn to go out there.
On this particular trip, we did something we meant to do years ago, but vehicle issues prevented us from actually doing it. You'll have to keep reading to find out what that is, although, if you follow me on Instagram, you've seen it in my Stories already :) This is one of my favorite devotionals. I was given it for my high school graduation and I've sense given it to a friend, with plans to give it to two more people. I think I'm going to give it to each of my Bright Lights girls when they turn 16. Shhh! Don't tell them :)
The first person I met was her dad, the grandfather. He was so kind to me throughout the whole day and after meeting him and his wife, I can see where Mrs. G gets her kind personality from. He walked me around the property as I looked for the best spot and we had lovely conversations. After we were done, he walked me to my car! It was the nicest gesture and capped off a lovely session.
Oh look! Another post about reading :) I probably should do a post sometime with some of my favorite books. If you asked me my favorite book, I couldn't pick just one. Authors, however, are a different story.
Ready for another Feature Friday? I know I am.
My biggest hobby is reading. Since I learned to read, I've barely had a book out of arm's reach. I will even take books on five minute car rides because that is five more minutes of reading time! Anybody else? Even if you're not a reader, you probably know someone who is, and for those who read to the end, I have a special surprise! I just got back from a trip (post on that to come soon!) and I'm still catching up, so today's post is a little shorter, but it's something fun we did on our trip to pass some time! It was pretty funny.
I have an app full of dates. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Baptisms. I keep dates of friends, family, and even people I only kind of know. I've questioned if it's creepy or not, but there is something about recognizing special occasions that is so important to me.
My brothers and I are a lot older than our three local cousins and I was struck recently at the difference in our growing up. When my brothers and I were little, we played so many games with our imaginations.
You get the idea. We still talk about our "fires" and playing Tornado and "exercising". They are such fun memories. Do kids even do that anymore? I get the irony of me asking that question. I'm not that old myself. But the younger kids I don't see doing much with their imaginations after they are in school. I'm not with my cousins all the time, but even when they were younger, I don't remember them playing house or family or anything like that. At our grandparents house, when my brothers and I were little, they had three willow trees. We would take plastic bags and pull the leaves off as far up as we could reach to "collect food for the winter". I literally don't remember what game we were playing but I remember that. My cousins never did anything like that, at least when we were around. I'm not sure if imagination games are really going away or if I just don't see it in the kids I hang around. You tell me. Also, I'd love to hear about what you did as a kid or what your kids did. It's so fun to hear!! (Let me know if you'd like me to expand on any of the little stories I mentioned in this post today! I'd be happy to oblige :) |
Hi! I'm Sarah!
