2023 was a lighter year for non-fiction. I had hoped to read more and of the ones I did read only a handful stood out enough to make this list. But the ones that did, boy were they amazing!!! If you click on the title you can read my full review for each one.

I read WAY too many books to give you a run-down of everything I read in a year, but I can give you my favorite first-time reads and share my Goodreads stats. By each book I will put a brief snippet of a review and you can click the book to see my whole review. In the case of series, I will link the review of the first book.
(I picked the books I rated 5 or 4 stars and read for the first time.) I found a new resource this year on Instagram. I don't know how exactly I stumbled upon it, but I am super excited about Good Book Mom! It is getting harder and harder to know what is good for kids to read, so to have a resource like this, geared towards kids ages 0-12, is amazing!
Are you looking for ways to celebrate Valentine's Day? I'm recommending some of my favorite movies, a book, some music, and a special treat!
I had 20 non-fiction books in my planner to read in 2022. Ten were just general non-fiction and ten were business related. I read exactly two of those twenty books. With moving and all my trips, I just didn't have a ton of time to devote to non-fiction. I really need uninterrupted time so I can focus on what I'm reading and I didn't have a lot of that. I did end up reading 15 non-fiction books this year, which surprised me, and I'm glad of it. I'm also glad that I'm not frustrated with myself for not reading the books on my list. That shows some good growth!
I always do a wrap up of my non-fiction books each year but I thought it might be fun to share my favorite books of 2022 so far! Reading is one of my favorite pastimes and I love sharing books with others! We've got some new books that are adding to existing series, new stand-alone novels, and a few re-reads as well, just to round things out!
If you have a reader in your house, especially one who reads above grade level, the middle school and early teen years can be a STRUGGLE to find books for them to read. I read well above my grade level but was not old enough to read adult books. Even Christian books for adults have things in them that 12 year olds don't need to read! I would get massive stacks of books from the library each week because I read the short book so quickly.
As a parent, you don't necessarily have a ton of time to screen everything your kids want to read and there is a LOT of junk out there these days. I have a list of some series/books that are great for those in-between years! I've done a LOT of babysitting in my life and you know kids love to be read to. Some children's books are quite mind-numbing, if we are being honest. I find myself adjusting things to not have to read "he said/she said" at the end of every sentence!!!! But through the years, I have found some books that are enjoyable for the adults to read as much as they are fun for the kids to hear.
I read most of these books sometime in my teen years and the ones I read later I wished I'd read sooner!!! With the exception of Gretchen Rubin's book, these are all written by Christians, are about Christians, and/or have some aspect of the Christian faith about them. However, I believe that everyone can benefit from the principles within and the lessons available, even if you are not a Christian.
Because I read so much and have read so many great books, I had to include a couple bonus titles for you :) I don't typically share fiction books with you because I read SO MUCH OF IT! But last year I read a few new books that just blew me away and I have to share them with you! Also, if you are interested, I have a bookstagram account now (@tomeburrower) where I share more book reviews.
