Is it just me or does anyone else feel just a little melancholy on New Year's Eve? I don't really know why, but it could be because I don't really like change. (Although I'm way better now than I was as a child). Stepping into the unknown is not my comfort zone. The other side of that coin is that I look forward to a fresh start. 2019 has no sadness, no heartache, no challenges in it like 2018 does because 2019 is a clean slate for the moment.

In the middle of high school, I decided I needed to start reading more non-fiction. As a fun "reward", I also started doing a Top 10 list at the end of the year to share my favorites with others. (In case you haven't figured it out yet, I love sharing books with people almost as much as reading them in the first place!).
Different events stand out in people's minds. The more significant the event, the stronger the memory of where you were, what you were wearing, or who you were with.
I have a slightly odd memory and I don't really know why it has stuck in my head because it's not that significant and it's not even really related to Christmas all that much. I hope you and your family have a beautiful day celebrating our Savior's birth together!!! Enjoy time with loved ones and build lots of memories to savor as we head into a new year! God bless you!
Blessings, Sarah I can't even tell you how old I was when I started making these cookies with my Oma for my Grammy. They are quite possibly my Grammy's favorite cookie so I started making them for her every Christmas.
I meant to post a beginning of December update. Here we are on December 19th and I'm just now getting to it. Oh well. Better late than never!
It occurred to me that it seems rather odd to be doing beginning of the month previews instead of end of the month wrap ups. While it's something I'm working on, I've always been an anticipator. I'm always looking ahead to the next exciting thing, so a post about what's coming up fits me. I have heard, from several different professional photographers, that it's best for your business to specialize in one or MAYBE two things. Just do weddings and newborns. Or weddings and seniors. Or seniors and newborns. You get the idea.
I'm still pretty new, so I'm doing just about everything that deals with portraits of people. But that's a specialization in itself, is it not? Advent calendars come in a wide variety of themes. Until this year, we've always done four different ones, with varying degrees of spirituality :)
Most of the "traditional" Christmas movies are not my cup of tea. Shocking, I know. I really don't know why I am so odd and "Scrooge-like" when it comes to Christmas entertainment. It would make life easier and help me get along with people better at Christmas time if I liked the radio music and the common movies. But I don't. It is what it is. Today, I present to you (not in any particular order) my favorite Christmas movies!
That title probably isn't what you were expecting when you clicked on a photographer's blog. Please don't run away, because I think this is really important and very cool to think about.

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
