Journaling is such a great habit for your kids. In the moment, it allows them to process an event and the emotions that go along with it. In the future, it let's them remember the feelings and even things that they may have otherwise forgotten. It's also a discipline in consistency and helps them learn handwriting and communication skills. I could keep going with the many benefits of journaling but how to you start your kids off on this (hopefully) life-long habit?

Do you ever wonder how your life might have been different if something major had happened or not happened? I sometimes wonder how I would be if I had not been homeschooled. We'll never know, but I do have a few thoughts on what may have happened. I'm not intending this to be a bashing of public and private school but I do want to show some of the tremendous benefits of homeschooling.
It's always funny to me to discover the preconceived notions people have about homeschooling. I've heard it all. Something I've noticed too, is that a person's idea of what homeschooling "should" be is often what keeps them from doing it. They say, "oh, I could never homeschool" because they think they could never do it like [whatever example they are holding up in their head]. But guess what? There is no one right way to homeschool!
I have seen all of the God's Not Dead movies and have enjoyed them to various degrees. If you don't know about this series, they are fictional movies that are based off of real court cases. So while the exact events are all just for the film, you know that things just like it are happening in the real world and it's crazy to realize!!!
The weather is getting more like spring in Michigan and that means we can spend more time outside. As a homeschooler, I am used to everything being a means to learn, even taking walks. I remember a fun workshop we did in my co-op where we went on a walk with lists of things to find and it was a contest to see which team of kids could find the most items on the list! But this is an easy activity you can do at home with your own kids.
I was homeschooled my whole life, but I also did a co-op from age nine until graduation. Besides my mom, my two favorite teachers were from my co-op.
