Do you have a lot of boxes left over from Christmas? Don't throw them out! And don't recycle them either (at least not yet). Boxes are a child's favorite toy, didn't you know? Next year, you can save a lot of money :) But seriously, save those boxes and give them to your kids and watch what happens.

I found this article on Boundless.org and knew I needed to share it here. Phylicia Masonheimer has talked about the beauty and power of hospitality for years, and how it is so important for all season of life. She often talks about how she opens her home to married and single friends while she has little children of her own and it's a beautiful and inspiring thing. This perspective is from the single friend, so what I really hear is that we all need to hear, learn, and practice this, no matter our season of life.
We are getting overwhelmed with stuff. Minimalism is all the rage. But a lot of things have precious memories attached to them and it is painful to think about throwing them away. What do we do? I have a great solution for you!
Lemonade is the perfect drink for summer and while I am definitely a fan of the tried and true basic lemonade, I discovered lavender lemonade a few years ago and was HOOKED! I love all things lavender and this was the starting point for my lavender love.
Call me weird but I LOVE spring cleaning my room. I really should do it twice a year but I've been doing my deep cleaning and organizing in April for a long time. There is something so refreshing about doing a room refresh after the winter. I know not everyone loves spring cleaning so I'm going to offer some tips and tricks to hopefully make it easier and more bearable for you.
If you have little kids or your kids are home a lot more now, it might be hard to do the things you're used to doing each day. But kids don't have to get in the way, in fact, it's good for them and you if they are included in the daily routines!!!
Reading is such an important skill for kids AND it keeps them quite for a bit. Win win :) We all know that kids love to have something that is "theirs" and a cozy reading corner will interest even reluctant readers!
At one point in time, I thought I wanted to be an interior designer. While that does not seem to be my career calling, I do still love doing it in my own home.
I am all about organization and utilizing space wherever I can. If I can keep clutter out of sight and/or store things where I would otherwise not be able to, that's a win in my book. Enter... the storage ottoman. Have your kids ever complained that they were bored and had nothing to play with? I know a mom who came up with a genius idea to help keep her littlest kids entertained while she helped her older kids with school. If you're not a homeschooler and just have little kids at home and need a way to keep them occupied for an hour or two at a time, I'm going to share this mom's genius hack with you today!!
My style and tastes have certainly changed since I've become a photographer but some things have been constant. However, I never really knew what my style was. I once wanted to be an interior designer because then I could decorate houses in all the styles and there are things I appreciate and like about each one. As I got older, it became clear that I liked things that were more classic and had more character than the more modern styles. Still, I didn't have a definite name for what I liked.
(By the way, this photo isn't really a representation of what my style is, but I do love how bright it is, the storage, the large window, and the map on the wall :) |
Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
