Call me weird but I LOVE spring cleaning my room. I really should do it twice a year but I've been doing my deep cleaning and organizing in April for a long time. There is something so refreshing about doing a room refresh after the winter. I know not everyone loves spring cleaning so I'm going to offer some tips and tricks to hopefully make it easier and more bearable for you. Decide What Spring Cleaning Means For You
There are different levels of spring cleaning. Some people go all in and empty cabinets, clean them, reorganize pantries, and shampoo their carpets. Others dust and vacuum and do a little more than a weekly clean but aren't deep cleaning. Figure out what you are wanting to do and plan out how you'll make it happen. Spread The Work Out Don't feel like you need to clean your whole house in one day or even in one week. It's okay to take some time to get this done, especially if you have little kids. Include Your Kids You probably know by now, if you've been around here for some time, that I am a big proponent of including your kids in things. They can help clean! It might take slightly longer but it's good for them and for you! They are learning responsibility and how to clean well and you don't have to worry about entertaining them while you get the cleaning done. Pick Your Cleaning Method Some people like to clean one room at a time, while others like to do all the closets one day, all the dusting another, etc. There is not one right way but you might have to try a couple different ways to find what works best for you. I personally like to do a mixture of the two. I do all the vacuuming in one room, all the dusting in one room, clean the closets in one room. Plan To Do Less If you're assigning work to days, plan to do less than you think you can actually do. You can always do more but if you plan on more and it doesn't get done, it can make you feel defeated and behind. We don't want that!!! This might look like you plan to wash the windows one day and you end up having time to dust shelves too so that gets done "early". With this method, you feel amazing and like you are killing your list! I know it's all psychological but it does affect you and makes a difference! How do you do your spring cleaning? What tips and tricks would you add? What has worked or hasn't worked for you?
