For a long time, editing help was out of reach for many photographers, especially newer ones, due to the cost of outsourcing to a private editor. AI editing software is helping make it more accessible to more photographers, but there are some things you still need to be aware of and things to consider when deciding what route is best for you.

As a private editor for photographers, I have found that sometimes, in editing their favorites from different parts of the day, they can sometimes create some inconsistencies in their gallery without knowing it, because the images they select are from different parts of the session/day. However, there is a pretty easy way to check for consistency BEFORE sending the catalog off to the editor and I'm going to share that with you today!
I've been seeing a lot of people asking for advice and recommendations for their websites in a group I belong to on Alignable. It made me think that there is a need for this sort of thing.
I'm not perfect at designing a website. I don't have formal training or anything, but I've learned about it from some high-level photographers and I have used many websites as a consumer so I'm going to share my collected thoughts and experience from life and those wiser than I am. I've noticed something rather disturbing in the business world. It's gotten me thinking and I have a two-fold theory for why it's happening and what new business should do to avoid falling into the same pit.
I can't stop talking about this!!! Katelyn James has created a course for photography BEGINNERS that introduces you to the basics of shooting and editing and it's super affordable! I've loved her for years but this just adds to it. I wish I'd had this when I was starting.
I've been batch writing my blog posts for a while now, but usually I'm just about a week or so ahead. I like to stay somewhat current so that if events happen that inspire me, I can write about them close to real time. It also allows me to easily fit in my sessions as they occur. I have a day each week that I sit down and write another week of blog posts but this month, I knew that would not necessarily be an option. I also was getting back on Instagram after a month off and knew that I needed a plan if I was going to show up without being stressed out. Enter, batching.
I'm coming to you today with an easy way to track your mileage for your business! If you have a business and need to track miles for tax purposes, AND if you use a planner for your events, then this tip is for you!
From day one, you have probably been the one doing everything in your business. You know how you like things done and you want to have a personal touch on each part of your workflow. I get it. It's hard to let go of things because you think it is then out of ;your control. Editing your photos is the last thing you want to lose control of but the good news is, you can get help without losing control!!!!
Blogging is a major pain point for photographers. It can be months, or even a year, before a session gets up onto the blog. Does it have to be this way? Can blogging help with other parts of the post-session workflow? The answers are emphatically NO and YES!!!
Everyone who educates in the photography world teaches about the power and benefits of outsourcing, especially your editing. There are several options when it comes to how you outsource your editing but I want to talk about private editors.
