We started the year off strong! In some ways I can't believe we are already done with one month but in other ways January flew by! It was a good month with some exciting developments with work and lots of people time.

I try not to do too much dreaming about "my house" because I want to live presently, but there are some things that I know are must-haves if/when I ever have my own place. These are things I've grown up with and have been a huge benefit to my life, so I know I want them to be a part of my life on my own as well.
Living someone else's life for any period of time is a great privilege. I've gotten to experience it a few times throughout my life and it's an experience for sure. Each time, I learn more about them, myself, and the things I want to do with my own life. Earlier this month was one such opportunity.
We are just on the other side of a busy holiday season. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's means lots of gatherings with family and friends, as well as seeing people we might only see once or twice a year. That can mean awkward questions from these people who mean well but don't always think about what they are asking. I think there is a better question that we can ask.
2023 was a lighter year for non-fiction. I had hoped to read more and of the ones I did read only a handful stood out enough to make this list. But the ones that did, boy were they amazing!!! If you click on the title you can read my full review for each one.
I read WAY too many books to give you a run-down of everything I read in a year, but I can give you my favorite first-time reads and share my Goodreads stats. By each book I will put a brief snippet of a review and you can click the book to see my whole review. In the case of series, I will link the review of the first book.
(I picked the books I rated 5 or 4 stars and read for the first time.) I am so ready for a new word and I think my expectations are probably a little too high for this word :) There is a lot of hope wrapped up in this word and I'm very excited.
My "word" for 2023 was "REDEEM & RENEW". You can read all about why I chose it and what I intended to be thinking about with that phrase but, per usual, I ended up being very surprised by what actually happened.
Another new year!!! After such an amazing 2023, I am kind of excited to see what 2024 has in store but also a little wary. I'm kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop, which I know is awful but past experience... Anyway, I'm trying to just be excited. I also cannot believe some of the 10 year anniversaries that I will be remembering in 2024!
