Lemonade is the perfect drink for summer and while I am definitely a fan of the tried and true basic lemonade, I discovered lavender lemonade a few years ago and was HOOKED! I love all things lavender and this was the starting point for my lavender love. Lavender lemonade is very easy to make and so refreshing on warm summer (or spring!) days. The recipe came from the blog Blackberry Morning and you can find a few more recipes to try if you are curious.
Lemonade Base 1 quart + 1 cup water 1/2 cup lemon juice 1/3 cup sugar drizzle of honey (optional) (I did not do this) Lavender Lemonade Lemonade base 1 tablespoon dried lavender buds Mix 1 cup water, lavender buds, and sugar in a pot over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Strain the lavender buds out before transferring to a pitcher and adding the remaining quart of water and lemon juice. I strained the buds by placing a coffee filter over the top of my container and securing it with binder clips. This allowed me to squeeze the buds a bit to get every little drop of infusion. It smells so good while you are doing it. Bonus! I have also made the base and added lavender syrup that I bought from a friend. The taste of lavender was weaker with just a tablespoon of syrup so I generally added more. It depends on how much flavor you want! Want to make a single serving of lemonade? Put a tablespoon or two of lemon juice in a glass of water with a tablespoon of sugar. Play with the amounts if you like sweeter or more sour lemonade! Add a few ice cubes and enjoy! Did you try this or any of the other recipes? What did you think?
