If you have little kids or your kids are home a lot more now, it might be hard to do the things you're used to doing each day. But kids don't have to get in the way, in fact, it's good for them and you if they are included in the daily routines!!! Phylicia Masonheimer is the voice I've heard speak on this principle the most but she is not the only one by a long shot. There are many women who advocate for including your children in the daily routines of the home from a very young age. I have a friend who has a one-year-old and her "chore" is to carry a piece of mail from the mailbox when they go pick up letters each day. It's a small thing but it starts teaching responsibility very young. There are many, many benefits of bringing your kids along as you do your tasks but three main ones are:
Upfront, this does require a little more work from you. Young kids will need oversight and direction when they start learning but in the long run it will be worth it. Maybe you don't have the kids help with dinner every night but a few times a week. There may be times when you can't take the time to oversee and instruct so you do it yourself. That's fine. But consistency is important, for you and them. Do you bring your kids along in the routines of running the house? I'd love to hear your experience and how that has worked for you!
