This is one of my favorite devotionals. I was given it for my high school graduation and I've sense given it to a friend, with plans to give it to two more people. I think I'm going to give it to each of my Bright Lights girls when they turn 16. Shhh! Don't tell them :) I love how Ann Voskamp writes. It's not a common writing style but it is reflective and flowing. Not poetry, but not straight writing either. Lots of descriptions and painting with words. That's really the best way I can describe it.
She wrote a book called One Thousand Gifts and I've not read it. You'd think I would, after how much I loved this devotional, but I just haven't gotten around to it. As someone who likes to be positive and look for the positive and think positively, gratitude is not natural for me. I have not trained myself super well to be grateful for things, especially in the middle of hard things or things I don't like. This book has helped me grow in that area. It can be small, but gratitude is a beneficial way of life. It can help change your attitude in the midst of circumstances. I loved how Ann learned to look at life and how it is helping me look at life. I did this devotional straight through twice (120 days) and then have taken a break from it. I think I'll do it again once I'm finished with the Bible reading plan I'm currently on. Have you heard of this devotional or even done it? What is your favorite devotional to do alongside your Bible study?
