I had so much fun with my senior photos! My friend took most of them and my mom took the few that my friend did not. We went to King's Bookstore in Detroit and Mill Race Village in Northville. There is SO MUCH "me" to those locations. I was only starting out in photography and knew ZERO about editing (as will be clear), but I did understand vision and how important locations are for photos. King's Bookstore was someplace I had wanted to go since a friend of mine had gone there. I LOVE reading and books and senior photos seemed like a good excuse to go! Don't plan on going for your photos thought, because we had to get special permission. They don't allow photography there as a regular thing. Purple is my favorite color and there were purple books painted on the walls!!!
Northville... I spent so much of my childhood in Northville. My co-op was there, my best friend's house was there, and Ford Field was our summer gathering spot so doing photos in Mill Race was obvious. My friend and I had a blast taking these photos. So many good memories. The photo of me in the pink dress was a photo I had envisioned in my head. I knew the outfit and the composition I wanted and my mom made it happen for me! Looking back at these, I still own one of the shirts and one of the skirts, the vest, and the hat, but the rest wore out or don't fit. I can't believe how skinny I was! I didn't think I was at the time :) What would I change if I did these today? My outfits would be different and while I would still incorporate books, I would probably not shoot in a dark building :) Mill Race would still be an option but done differently and the editing would be SO different!! Do these match my style today? No, but I still love them and everything they represent.
