I love the idea of taking photos of your baby every month in their first year!!! They change so fast and I want you to have a photo record of this time. The letter boards, blocks, and blankets are darling and I shared some resources for those in a previous post. Today I want to speak to those who want to get really creative with these photos: themes for each month!! Some months are more obvious than others and individual families may have special traditions or memories that will give them a unique idea for a certain month. Here are ideas for each month to get you started, with some photo examples for you as well.
January - snow. If it's too cold or their too little to go outside then cotton works really well as a fake snow substitute. Stuffed snowmen, paper snowflakes, and cute winter clothes/blankets would be great places to start. February - hearts. Red, white, and pink. Paper hearts and little bears. Bowties and headbands. March - shamrocks. White and green. Paper shamrocks. Done. April - Easter. Pastel colors, colorful eggs, bunnies, and flowers. May - flowers/outdoors. Find some flowers at someone's house or a park and either set your baby in and among them or pick some to lay around your baby. June - baseball. Cap, bat, ball, glove, maybe a jersey if you're a big fan :) Even little girls can look adorable in a baseball outfit. July - patriotic. Red, white, and blue EVERYTHING! If you have military in the family, adding those mementos is a special touch. Flags look cute if the child is old enough to hold it. August - summer. Put your baby in a kiddie pool, sprinkler or take them to the park. Something that says summer! If they like it and are old enough, eating watermelon on a picnic blanket would be super cute!! September - leaves. Again, for littler kids, just lay them among the leaves but let older kids play and throw them! October - pumpkin. Take them to a pumpkin patch or set up your own display on your porch. Their Halloween outfit would also be a great photo for this month. November - Thanksgiving. You can really go all out with the outfits for this one or just put your fall decorations around your child. December - Christmas. Some possibilities include a Santa experience, posed in front of your tree, or dressed up as an elf. You can be as simple as a onesie or outfit that fits the theme or go bigger with props. Photos that are themed with mom or dad's jobs are always adorable, if you're a huge fan of Star Wars or Harry Potter or something like that, you can always do that for one of the months, and of course, the other main sports can be used for inspiration as well.
