I want to be a house-sitter for houses along Lake Michigan :) But in all seriousness, these day trips have been such a blessing. They refresh me and I never feel like I have enough time, so I'll just have to go back again sometime! I drove out to Muskegon first. I had found out about something called the Monet Garden, but when I arrived, it was just a corner lot and the area did not seem the best, so I left and went to the beach to see the lighthouse. It is a gorgeous beach!!!!
What I thought was a lighthouse turned out to be a horn at the end of the pier. I walked out and then went to the "back" of it and all the wind and wave sound vanished. It was eerie and almost silent. Not until later did I realize that there was a walkway out to the actual lighthouse, but I photographed it from afar. To be honest, Muskegon didn't seem to have much to do or see and didn't seem like the nicest town. I'm sorry to anyone reading this who is from Muskegon! Please comment and tell me where I should go next time. On my way down to Grand Haven, I drove right past Maranatha Bible Camp where I went on retreat in 2020 and 2021. That was fun. Grand Haven was lovely. I explored the downtown shops and museum (and it's a good thing I don't live closer and have my own house because there is so much cute decor!!!) for a while before grabbing an early dinner at Lucy's Backyard. It was a cute little place and I got a delicious sandwich! You should check it out if you're in the area. Apparently the Grand Haven pier and lighthouses are some of the most photographed and well-recognized in the state. I took some photos from the North Pier (because I didn't have a state park pass) and then I went to North Beach to enjoy some beach time. On my way out of town I stopped at The Pump House. I should have gone earlier so I could get a bowl of ice cream but what a fun concept! And it is so cute inside. They have little porch swings that face the windows and the marina! These trips were very fun and a great birthday gift to myself. I also go a fun little souvenir on this one :) I'm trying to think if I like Grand Haven or Holland more and I'm not sure. The weather was definitely nicer this time. I have things from both places I want to do in the future so maybe another day trip next year to both places. Check the Print Store soon because I'll be adding some photos from this trip! (I have a free gift for you! Grab your pack of ten free screensavers - five for computers and five for phones. Enjoy!)
