Who's ready to time travel? Today I am sharing a peek into where I started back in late 2017/early 2018. I cringe a little bit but then I remind myself that I a) did not know what I was doing and b) was brand new! So I have to give myself grace and just appreciate where I am now. Do you want to see what my first website looked like? Where do I even begin? I look at this now and I don't even know what the thought was behind some of these things. Like "Albums". I don't know what that was supposed to be. I had no contact page, my "About" page was last (!), and my offerings included baseball :) :The first thing you may notice is my name and logo. "Image Bearers" is the philosophy behind my business and why I do what I do. My friend helped me design my logo and we used purple because it is my favorite color. (Remember, no clue what I'm doing!) At this point in time, I'm photographing people that I am around, doing every day things. These are my friends and family, taken at their homes or the park or my cousin's beauty pageant. I also did not know how to edit. I only had photographed one senior, so that's what was featured! We had a good time but I feel like I owe him some new portraits now that I know so much more. Baseball. In all honesty, I would photograph baseball games now if I could find a team that wanted me to. I love photographing this game. I photographed all of my brother's games in high school and when I would go to my cousins' games, I usually took my camera along. What was this? The only thing I can think is that when you clicked on a photo it took you to that page, but that would be so redundant. I don't even know. My B&W editing has come a LONG way. That sepia may have actually been intentional. I don't remember. I didn't have my editing software at this point so I was just using the filters that came with my computer photo presentation program. I wish I had the text from this page. What did I say? But at least I had a photo of my face. This is, to this day, one of my favorite senior photos. I wish I still had those earrings!
I hope you enjoyed this look at where I started. As you can see, we have come a long way. I have pity for that Sarah who had no clue what she was doing and I'm so thankful for the people I found to show me what to do so that I am where I am now! I'll always be tweaking things and I will be moving website hosts again at some point, but I'm much happier with how things are now. What you see here reflects me, but what I have now reflects me as a business so much better. What are you reactions to this? Are you shocked at how "bad" it was?

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
