For better or for worse, this is a busy time of year. I'm not here to debate whether or not we are doing the Christmas season right, but I do think that even in the middle of the busy, and busy is not always bad, we can be intentional in this season. Therefore, I am proclaiming this to be Deliberate December. I am going to try to slow things down this December. I want to savor the traditions and events and not just check them off my list. I want to do intentional things.
I will be attending two Advent By Candlelight events. One of the churches I'm visiting regularly is hosting this event and I figured it would be a good way to meet other women at the church. I am also going to the one at my home church because we invited a mother/daughter duo who are friends of ours. I want to make a gingerbread house. That is not something I've done much in my life (only twice actually) and I think it sounds fun this year. I will be making my normal gingerbread, maybe with a friend. A sweet friend sent me an Advent devotional so I will be doing that. These are just a few of the things I have planned in the way of being intentional with my traditions. As a family, we are letting go of a lot this year and changing up other things because that is what is going to fit our lives best in this season. I will be attending a friend's wedding, celebrating another friend's birthday, doing another craft night, and hopefully enjoying snow! I have my planner for next year, so I'll be getting that set up, and I need to start thinking about my word for 2023. I may be participating in a Secret Santa exchange (we're great at planning ahead :) and the cover has been revealed for Daican's Heir, the final book in the Ilyon Chronicles series! It should be coming out early next year. I cannot wait! I'm holding December loosely. Things spring up and I want to be able to do things that interest me this December, instead of rushing around. I hope you are able to do the same. I'd love to know what things you want to do deliberately this December?
