My family had the opportunity, thanks to Thrivent Financial, to go see the Detroit Zoo Lights this year. We had never been before and I saw some Instagram stories from a friend who went, but I didn't really know what to expect. I was very impressed with the display! I was overwhelmed with all the lights from the moment we stepped out into the main area. There were giant animals made out of lights and trees wrapped up. There were dancing lights, and perpetual snowflakes, and lights that acted like a screen!
Adding to the excitement of the lights, the beavers were out! Apparently we have three beavers at our zoo, but I've never seen them. They're much bigger than I imagined or thought they'd be. It's kind of expensive to go if you are not attending a sponsored event like we were, but I think it would be worth it every couple years. It really is neat and possibly the best light display in the area. Hines Drive is cool but this tops it. Have you been to Wild Lights? What are your favorite light displays to see each year?

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
