I had a Sunday School teacher once who always said, "we don't play games, we have learning experiences." My twist on it is, "we don't have failures, we have learning experiences". And it's taken a lot of growth to get to the point where I can say that! A few years back I tried to do Christmas mini-sessions. It didn't pan out and I was very discouraged. But I learned some marketing tips from that experience and applied them to launching my first spokesmodel team. What looked like a failure was really a learning experience.
Finally deciding to jump in and launch a spokesmodel team was kind of scary. I spent a lot of time creating material and outlining what I wanted it to look like. I had to be thinking months into the future and planning much farther ahead than I normally do in my business. My Instagram and blog strategy was much more thought out than usual. I was talking about high school related things for the whole month of February and then in March, when applications were open, I was sharing testimonials from past seniors and talking about what a senior experience is like. Most of the time I don't have a consistent theme from post to post, so planning the flow and what I wanted to communicate and when was an interesting change. Thinking with more strategy and planning so far out in advance was a little intimidating and sometimes hard, but there were parts of it I kind of liked. I would get on a roll with ideas of what I could talk about related to high school and I got to share some fun memories from my own high school years. I think I can actually say I enjoyed marketing this Spokesmodel Team! Something else I learned through this experience (as well as others) is that sometimes hard work is not enough. I feel like I did my best at planning and marketing this team and we fell short of enough people to actually make it happen this year. I know there is always more that could be done, but I am proud of what I did. I took what I learned from one try and applied it to this one and now I will take these lessons into the next launch. As you may have figured out from this post, I did not get enough people to run a Spokesmodel Team this year. While I wanted to keep it small, there was a minimum number I had in mind and I did not reach that number. Thank you to everyone who shared this team with their family and friends. I am very appreciative of your support and belief in my business! We will try again next year! Do I like "learning experiences"? No, not really. I'd rather actually do the things and be learning from that. But I'm glad I am learning and maybe the next time I'll actually get to do the thing I'm trying to promote. I'm not going to give up!
