I don't spend all my time taking photos and I have other passions that have absolutely nothing to do with photography, but they are all connected with my underlying passion of helping and serving people. That passion is fueled by my faith. If my interests and the things I pour into were a tree, the root would be faith, the trunk would be building and encouraging others, with the branches being the different things I do. So what are those things? Photography
This one is obvious because it is what this whole website is about. But I do more with my business than just serve clients who pay me :) I started off taking photos of nature and I still love finding the beauty around me. My business photography style is my favorite style but I like playing around with other styles and just being creative. I also love photographing baseball!! I did it for two years for my brother's high school team and it's so much fun! Bright Lights I was in a discipleship program called BRIGHT Lights when I was a girl and now I have the honor of leading a group of young girls through it. It is a great responsibility and honor and not one I take lightly but I absolutely love teaching them and leading them through the different lessons. I've always wanted a mentor and I am a big believer in being the person you needed and/or wanted for other people. Baseball I talk here and there about my brother's baseball experience. His high school experience was tremendously better than his youth league. I felt God placing a dream in my heart to create a program like my brother's high school team, but for elementary and middle school boys. It's not something I have any idea how to do, but I didn't know how to create a photography business either :) So far this is still just in the dream stage but this is God's program, so it will happen in His good timing and not before then. (If you would like more information about this, please email me at [email protected]) Letters I love to write and receive letters. My aunt got me started on snail mail when she gave me a pen pal kit years and years ago. When my friends started going off to college and other states to pursue their passions and dreams, I decided I was going to be their anchor to home. I write four to five different friends each month. Most get one letter a month, but one friend gets a letter each week. It's my little Sunday afternoon tradition. These girls were going off into a new world, far from home and far from people they knew, so I wanted to help them stay connected in a little way that I could. Let me tell you, they appreciate it! If you know someone who lives far from family and friends, I know they'd love to get a letter from you! It can really make their day! Future Dreams I think I am going to have to watch myself with this drive to help others. It's a good thing but all good things can go bad if not monitored. Anyway, I have some dreams and passions for my future as well. There is a ministry that serves families who have lost infants. It is called Now I Lay My Down To Sleep. Their mission is to provide beautiful, keepsake memories in the form of photographs to the families, free of charge. This is right up my alley and I so want to be a part of it one day! They have some strict requirements for their photographers though, so I have some work to do. I know what a blessing this can be from seeing and hearing Katelyn James' story with her son. The photographs they have of the son they lost are priceless to them. The other big future passion is more vague. I want my home to have ministry and purpose. I want it to be a place where we disciple and help people. Maybe that looks like having a college student or two living with us. Maybe it will look like mentoring photographers. Maybe it will be some ministry I haven't even thought of yet! I just know this is something God has placed on my heart and I am becoming very passionate about! That was a lot! I'd love to hear some of your passions and dreams. I'm cheering for you!
