I know that I don't typically focus on couples but families are one of my focuses and the relationship between the parents is critical to the success of the family. Because of that, I care about the flourishing of the couples I get to work with, and couples in general. And while I am not married, I have found two resources that I think are just incredible in the way they seek to encourage connection for couples. The Marriage Journal
We have a saying in our family: "Communication is such an important thing." Want to know when we usually pull that saying out? When communication has failed or not happened at all! It's a way to lighten the moment but it's so true. Good communication is crucial for any relationship, married or not. I love this journal for the way it encourages communication between a husband a wife. It's a great tool to help you learn to communicate, if that is not a skill you grew up with, or maybe to just help you remember to make it a priority. The Date Night Jar* I've heard that "dating" can be a challenge for married couples, especially when they have kids. I like this idea of a date night jar because it takes the guesswork out of what to do for date night! I don't know the scope of the suggestions but you can always make your own with not too much work! If you get one, once you've completed all the ideas that it comes with, hopefully you're inspired to refill it with your own ideas and keep the trend rolling! You can also make a great memory book by saving the slips of paper and putting them in a scrapbook along with some notes of what you did and how it went. Maybe you even print out some photos! It would be such a sweet keepsake for you. Again, I'm not married, but what I've heard and observed from the people around me, marriage, like all relationships, takes intentionality, but also that it is often challenging to be intentional. That's why I think these resources are so great. For those of you who are married, what resources do you like and recommend for others? *I am an affiliate for The Anastasia Co. and when you purchase from this link, I earn a small commission. Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
