Photo sessions are so much more than just standing and smiling at the camera! My favorite photos are ones where people are interacting with each other and I have some favorite prompts to get those special connection prompts! Tickles. These are great for any age but especially young kids who aren't sure about the whole picture idea. It creates genuine smiles and helps everyone relax.
Swing. I love having parents walk and swing a little one between them! Obviously this is only for littles and is hard if there are more than one or two kids, but it creates such cute photos! Don't Smile. I think this one is even better than the fake laugh for getting good smiles from people who don't really want to smile or are just giving me a smirk. It works on all ages and removes the forced little kid smile and even gets those reluctant teens. Hugs. This prompt is a little advanced, because you have to hug each other while not completely hiding your faces! I don't start out with this one, but if we get to it, it gives such sweet connection to the final images. Walking. Movement poses are a great way to start a session because it helps you relax and let any stress that may be around from the day melt away. Prompts are what make photo sessions fun and give your final gallery such variety. The smiling-at-the-camera photos are important, but my favorites will forever be the ones where you are laughing and connecting with each other, rather than with my camera. What is a pose you have loved doing at your photo sessions?

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you!
