Back in high school, my youth group used to do a Christmas party and we sometimes did a white elephant gift exchange. It was always hilarious and could get a little competitive :) While elephant exchanges can be fun, but I think Secret Santas are even better! My first time doing a Secret Santa exchange was when I joined a girls' Bible study group in high school. It was so fun to give gifts and have it be a surprise who had your name.
I still do Secret Santa with the same group but it's gotten slightly more complicated now that we are coming and going and have girls who come back from college. Getting the names to each other and suggestions of what we like takes more creativity but it makes it all the more fun. I also lead a group now for younger girls. This is our third Christmas together but only our second time doing Secret Santas. The girls loved doing it last year and asked if they could do it again. We had to use some tricks to get names assigned because we were missing girls, but the moms figured out a way. Probably my favorite thing about Secret Santa exchanges is seeing the creativity of the gifts. People are given just a few ideas of some general things you like and they pick out some really neat things that you never would have thought of! Last year, my girl gave me a USB that looked like a camera! It was so cute and unexpected! Have you ever done a white elephant or Secret Santa exchange? What is a fun or unexpected gift you've received?
