I was going to post on Wednesday. I had something in the morning, but I thought there would be time between that and my afternoon appointment. If not, I had the rest of the day. But things didn't "go according to plan". In the morning, we had my friend's kids over while they were loading their moving van. Spending time with those precious babies was non-negotiable. I was not doing anything else that would take me away from them. Priorities really get set when one thing won't be around anymore.
They ended up staying until right before I had to leave. Not that I'm complaining. Each moment was special and precious. Another friend was getting her wisdom teeth taken out on Wednesday. I'd told her I would come sit with her if she wanted company. Not knowing if she'd want me to come over or not, I made some plans, but then she said she wanted me to come and that was that. I spent my Wednesday afternoon and evening watching movies with my friend. You might wonder at that. I didn't do anything productive that day. Well, no, not in terms of my business or education. But I did things with people. People will always be more important than my business. If blogging or posting to Instagram becomes a higher priority than the people in my life, I will have a serious problem. My business is important to me and I don't put off things related to it for any random thing. But a business is never more important than people. I spent my day investing in my friendships and in people I love. Holding a sleeping baby or sitting by a tired friend may not look like important work, but I think it is. From the beginning of this business, I want my priorities to be set in a good direction. That's why I've started now putting limits on my social media usage and "work hours". I learned a very important lesson from my dad - what you do from the beginning is what will always be expected of you. I won't let work or money become more important to me than the people I love. Have you ever dropped everything to help out a friend or family member? Did you find that it was way more rewarding than the things you'd planned for the day? I'd love to hear about your experience! Blessings, Sarah
