We are one month into life at Grafted Branch Farm... sort of. I say that because life here hasn't really started yet. And our house pretty much never looks like that photo right now :) Life is still quite chaotic, unfortunately. But I will give you a one-month update! As far as settling in goes, we have done the bare minimum to live and that's it. While we aren't spending every spare minute at the old house, we are spending a lot of time there. On moving day, we did not get most of the items from Granddad's workshop, my dad's workshop, the garage, or the outside in general. Point being, we still had quite a bit of stuff to get. The house needed some minor things done and some painting but we are finally close to just having one house!!!!!
Once that is finished, we will be turning our attention to organizing here. All that stuff we have been bringing back? It's just being thrown (not literally) into barns and garages. Just unload and place. And the barns already have eight years of things collected in them because we didn't know what we would need! I've been joking and saying that maybe in June we can start to form a rhythm for life here :) My mom and I went shopping at At Home and that was pretty fun. Even while most of what we needed were practical, it's still sort of decorating at the same time. She also got a few decorations for our front porch and we got a fun porch light to help us (and guests) find our house in the dark! You could say that we are mostly settled into the living space because things, for the most part, have homes, but there is not really a rhythm to life. I'm talking about knowing that this day you clean and that day you go to the library and this day you wash sheets. That sort of rhythm. I, for one, will feel more settled when that sort of schedule comes into play. People have been asking me how I feel about the new place. I honestly don't feel anything one way or the other. I told my dad that I might be able to give an answer about six months after life settles down and we've actually been doing life here. But I don't know. I was not expecting to not feel anything, so it's been weird and I don't quite know what to do with it. That's not much of an update, I know, but it's what I have! I'm not planning to do a monthly farm update post, but I will be updating when there are significant things going on! Everything will be filed under the "farm life" tag, if you want to go back and read previous posts!
