I kind of discovered it by accident. I got a bit pink one day and decided to use my moisturizer. I figured, what could it hurt? The next day, my sunburn was basically gone and I didn't peel at all! Since then, any time I get even a little bit burned, I put moisturizer on and I'm good. My dad and brothers get way more burned than I ever do and it helps them. The more severely burned you are, the longer it takes to work, in our experience, but it still helps with pain and peeling. As I said, this is actually a moisturizer I made to use on my face. I found some great toner and moisturizer recipes on a blog a few years back. They are natural, which I like, and seemed to help my face. Little did I know I was getting a 2-1 with the moisturizer. I use a 4oz canning jar (like this) to hold my moisturizer and once you make a batch, it lasts quite a long time. You don't need a whole lot. Since the base is coconut oil, it's very liquidy in the summer and hard in the winter. My face gets kind of dry in the winter, so I just press my finger or thumb to the surface for a moment and it warms up enough for me to get some. I've even used a baby spoon in the past to scrap some up :) With summer coming and people spending more time outside, it seemed like the perfect time to share this with you! Let me know if you try it and how it works for you! Do you have a go-to sunburn cure? *I should note, this only works if you are only slightly burned. I got really burned at a track meet this spring and it still helped the healing process significantly, but on the worst spots, I still peeled. So just keep that in mind :) Moisturizer & Sunburn Ointment
