Are you looking for ways to celebrate Valentine's Day? I'm recommending some of my favorite movies, a book, some music, and a special treat! Movies
Old Fashioned - This is a beautiful movie but it is not for children. While I believe everything is tastefully done, there are still parts I choose not to watch because I'm a single gal myself :) What I love about this movie is that both characters have pasts but are choosing a new, better way. The Inheritance - Based on Lousia May Alcott's novel of the same name (I recommend that too), this is a sweet story. Very "happily-ever-after" and not a long movie either. The Prince & Me 2 - You don't have to watch the first one to enjoy this movie (and the sequel is much more family-friendly than the original). It's a common story but still very enjoyable. Better than Hallmark, in my humble opinion. Princess Cut - This is a great movie for the single gals because it helps us check our hearts about romance and what we really should be doing with our singleness. A very sweet movie. Coffee Shop - I don't remember if this is a Hallmark movie officially or not, but it kind of watches like one. However, it has Rachel Hendrix and Jason Burkey acting together again and that is why I watched it in the first place. What keeps me coming back is the story. Yes, it's cliche, but it's also really sweet and I don't even want to admit to how many times I think I've watched this movie. Books No Chance Meeting by Jaye Elliot I don't read a lot of contemporary books OR romance books. I prefer historical fiction or action/suspense and I prefer the romance to be more of a side plot to the book. Too many straight romance books is not good for me personally. But I read this one almost every February because it is so real. The Dating Charade by Melissa Ferguson This book is super cute but still has a good grasp on reality and the challenges of love. It's much lighter than No Chance Meeting so if you want or need a lighter read that is still more realistic, you'll want to grab this book. Music My music tastes are not mainstream at all, so you probably won't have heard of most of these songs, but the other thing is that these aren't just your sweet, lovey-dovey songs. These songs help me remember what real, true love should look like. While there are some fun, light songs, there are more deep songs. Treats My Grammy used to get my brothers and me a Valentine's Day doughnut every year and I loved it! It's a simple thing but it made my holiday. I think it would be fun treat to get your kids. Other options would be cupcakes or cookies. Just something small but that makes the day special. Another thing would be, if you have girls, to get some flowers for them. (I personally like carnations. They are beautiful and roses are ridiculous this time of year). I have a friend who is one of three girls. Her dad got their mom and them flowers and chocolate every year for Valentine's Day and I think that is so sweet! What do you like to do for Valentine's Day? Do you have any special memories from your childhood?
