I had a really fun weekend and I hope you did to! Those of you with kids might know that the third How To Train Your Dragon movie came out on Friday. My family really likes those movies so we went to see it on opening day! (Which we've only done with one other movie that we can remember!) I also made whoopie pies for the first time. I've wanted to try them for YEARS but I've never seen them anywhere in person. My oma has a book of whoopie pie cake and filling recipes so I took a shot at making them. It was a fun and interesting experience. The movie was good! Without spoilers, it was a little bittersweet, but I think endings tend to be that way. You get attached to characters and a story and it is a little sad to see that end. It was funny, like the first two, and some information comes to light that I honestly never thought we'd know. If you liked the first two movies, I think you'll like the third. I've been baking since I was, oh, I don't know, two? Three? I used to bake with my Oma but as I got older and could do it myself, I started doing more on my own at home. I still call her for tricky substitute questions and borrow ingredients when I'm out or forgot to buy something :) Whoopie pies are different from anything else I've made before. I'm going to have to work on a better way to put the batter on the trays because, well, let's just say, I didn't have uniform cakes :) Filling them was really fun! You pipe the "frosting" onto one layer in a swirl and then put on the top. I don't fully understand why it was so fun, but it was. And they tasted great! That's the thing with baking. Presentation dosen't matter as much as taste :)
Have you seen HTTYD 3 or are you planning to? Ever had a whoopie pie? Are you a baker or not? Tell me in the comments!
