They say that buying and selling a house is all about location. I've never done that but I do know that your photos are affected greatly by the location that you choose!! A photo is a snapshot of a story - the story of you and/or your family - and the location is the backdrop to your story! If you don't have the proper setting, the story will not be right. There are two main kinds of settings for your photo story: urban or nature. Urban is buildings and streets; shops and concrete. Nature is fields and trees and flowers (or the beach if we are really lucky!!!). I know how to work in both locations and each has its own beauty but what matters is... what kind of backdrop fits your story?
I love shooting in places that give us the option of both settings. Some of my favorite locations are that have the option of both are Northville, Plymouth, and Ann Arbor. There are lovely nature spots and gorgeous buildings as well! If you're just looking for nature, Maybury State Park (or just about any state park), Belle Isle, and Greenmead are favorites of mine. One thing to keep in mind about locations is that you want wide open spaces. (You can read more about trees by going to this post). These are go-to places for me and I love shooting there but if you have a place in mind for your session, I love finding new places to shoot!!! You can see examples of my work in some of these locations by clicking on the category tag over on the right hand side. What is one of your favorite places in our lovely state?

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
