I always take some time to think things through when they are topics like this. Not because I think I'll change my mind, but because it doesn't always need to be said. Maybe the timing is wrong or my phrasing is not as kind as it should be. If I shared my thoughts as soon as I thought them, things would be said that I would probably wish later I had done differently. I am passionate about things that matter but I want to be sure I'm respectful and coherent, not reactive. All that being said, this is important. "Essential" is a word we have heard a lot of lately. Essential workers, essential jobs, essential activities. What about liberty? Is liberty essential? I think so.
People are not "one size fits all". One method of learning, one system of eating, one type of exercise are just a couple of examples. There is a reason we have many options for education, eating plans, and exercise programs. We don't all work the same way. So should we make decisions for all people? Should a small group decide what is best for the health of all? The decision to live in a small house is just as valid as living in a big one. Living in the city is as valid as the country. Choosing to vaccinate is as valid as not vaccinating. Going to public school is as valid as going to private school. Eating one way is as valid as eating another way. Deciding to go into the work force is as valid as choosing college. These and so many more things are preferences that we GET to make decisions about based on what our bodies and our families need. Do you want someone telling you what is best for your child? Would they really know better than you? What bout telling you what is best for you and your health? What if they told you what college to attend or what job to do? Can anyone make these decisions better than you? If we make the decision now to let others make decisions for us, future generations will not get to make any decisions at all. I value the ability to make my own decisions and I want others to have the same ability. We might choose different things but we do what we think is best for ourselves and our family. Let's not give away our liberty and decision making power in a moment of uncertainty and fear. It's too important and the consequences are too severe. Let's not react hastily and regret it or have future generations regretting our choices. If this matters to you, please check out this site.
