I found a couple of hidden gem locations in Novi, Michigan in the forms of Lakeshore Park Beach and Pavilion Shore Park. Only about a mile apart, both are situated on Walled Lake and let you get up close to the water for those gorgeous water portraits. Lakeshore Park Beach I almost missed this when I went the first time because the beach access is through a tunnel under the road! It's not a large beach area, but if you want that access to the water it does give you that. There is a small section of grass and rocks and a little staircase for some extra variety. Recommended for: Family and Senior Portraits Pavilion Shore Park This is a unique location. It has a walkway that goes out into the water at 90 degrees and provides some fun possibilities for posing. The rocks and patio area add interest and more variety. Parking here is fairly limited, so keep that in mind. Recommended for: Family and Senior Portraits Honestly, I would recommend doing both spots together in one session. I don't feel like either spot has enough variety for a full session on its own but they are so close that you can easily do both in one session. If you're doing a family session with younger kids, I would start at Lakeshore Park Beach and end at Pavilion Shore Park so that the kids are free to play on the playground when we are finished.

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
