In honor of the new movie about Mr. Rogers, I want to talk about my favorite memory relating to his show. I don't recall watching it all that often, but I do know I watched it enough to remember the general idea of it. I think they should do reruns because the world needs more of what Mr. Rogers had to offer. But that's not my memory :) If you watched the show, you'll remember Mr. Rogers' puppet world. In that world, the queen was named Queen Sarah.
I have a cousin who is autistic. He's high functioning and he was the sweetest little kid!!! For a while, when he talked about me, he called me "Queen Sarah" and when we went to visit, that's what he called me for the whole trip! It was so cute and I wished it had lasted longer than it did. We only watched TV occasionally but it was Barney and Mr. Rogers. Apparently, I was very influenced by the commercials. My parents tell a story of me saying I need jeans and they told me I had jeans, to which I responded, "but not from Kohls". The also said that I walked around saying "BCBSM.com" over and over again in a sing-song voice :) It's something that followed me as I got older because I memorized phone numbers from jingles on a radio station I used to listen to out of Nashville! That was a total bunny trail down the path of my childhood :) So what about you? Did you watch Mr. Rogers as a kid? What is your favorite memory? If not Mr. Rogers, what show was your childhood show?
