I'm a photographer with no studio, so I work all over the place. My day-to-day work, (blogging, website, email, etc), takes place from home. It's really nice, let me tell you. The nature of my work is that there isn't a chunk of stuff to be done at one time. I don't sit down and do work from "9-11" and then "2-5". Emails come in at different times. Some days, I have a lot of web work do to'; other days, not so much.
Then there are session days. Sometimes, I'm at my clients house, sometimes I'm at a park or a field. It's a fun, unpredictable, and challenging aspect to my work. Doing a session at a clients home, I never know what the set up is going to be that I will have to work with. It makes you creative and keeps you on your toes, for sure. Even outdoor sessions, if it's a new location for me, I can go scout ahead of time, but until you shoot somewhere a couple times, it has the ability to surprise you. Visualization is great, but only goes so far. I love that I get to work from home. I love the flexibility it gives me in my day and in my life. After being homeschooled my whole life, it seemed natural to have a job that worked similarly to my schooling experience. I am able to help people out at the last minute, get done other things that I place a high priority on, and I can work on establishing my schedule and habits for later in life when I might be married and have kids! Where do you work? Are you on the road a lot? Have you ever tried those community workspaces? Let me know in the comments!!

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
