Growing up, we never had TV so I've not really watched many TV shows. As I've gotten older, I've watched some on DVDs, but I find myself kind of annoyed by the drawn-out dramas. I guess I'm not really someone who likes story TV shows. However, there is one show that I REALLY enjoy - Relative Race. I found out about Relative Race because Jame Grace and her sister were on Season 3 and I saw something on her Instagram. I saved the post and, probably almost a year later, finally went and watched Season 3.
It was SO GOOD!!!! I loved the premise, how it works out, and how family-oriented it is. It's clean and good and everything TV should be. There are four teams each season. They submit their DNA to the show and RR finds relatives around the country that they've never met. Most of the people were adopted and are searching for birth parents or had a parent out of the picture somehow and want to find the missing side of their family. It leads to some touching reunions, let me tell you! Each day, the teams travel to a new city, do a challenge, and meet their family. The number and style of the challenges has changed over the seasons, but there is always at least one. Teams travel from city to city each day with only paper maps to guide them. No technology. They have flip phones to communicate with Dan, the host, and take selfies (yes, it can be done :). Each team has an allotted time based on their drive and how long their challenges should take. The teams that goes over their time the most, gets a strike. Three strikes, you're out. The goal is to make it to Day 10, where the remaining teams compete for a prize of $50,000. But real reward though, is these people finding the family they've been missing. Doesn't it sound great? You might be wondering how I can watch it if I don't have TV. It's a show through BYU.tv, so the seasons are online!!!! How cool is that? And, even better, you can watch for FREE!!! I've not watched any of their other shows, so I don't know anything about them. But I do highly recommend Relative Race :)
