I needed a logo. Every business needs one. In high school, I took a graphic design class, so I knew that I needed something that accurately reflected my business and me. It needed to be simple enough to be reproduced and to work big or small. All the details returned to mind as I began to think of what I wanted. A friend of mine is very talented in graphic design. I emailed her to see if she could help me come up with a logo. It's not my area of expertise. I knew I wanted it to be photography related and to fit "me" and my business culture and brand. We talked and brainstormed back and forth. At some point, she asked what my color scheme was. Ummm... not sure. I hadn't thought about that really. She sent me a website with DOZENS of color palettes on it. I told her what I liked and didn't like and she came up with some mock-ups of possible logos using the colors I had picked. Guys, she was so patient and so good at figuring out what I wanted when I didn't even know! She took what I said and didn't say and put together something amazing. This was what we ultimately settled on: Then I started thinking of putting my name with my logo. I emailed her again a couple of weeks ago to see what she thought and then I started playing around with fonts and sizes and spacing. I sent her options for a second opinion, (because I can't make a decision! :), and we ended up liking the same one. So, tada, Sarah Jane Photography has a new logo now! Probably at some point in my career, I'll get my logo redone. Most companies don't keep the logo they start out with. But I'm super proud of this one and so grateful to my amazing friend for all her help and comments. I couldn't have done it without her!!
