Ahh, Christmas Eve!! It might be just the day before Christmas to many, but it's the day my family and I celebrate Christmas! While it is a pretty relaxing day, we have some special traditions that we like to do. We didn't always celebrate on Christmas Eve. I remember being a child and waking up to do Christmas at home, picking one or two new toys to take to Grammy's house, going to church, and then spending the rest of the day at our grandparent's house. It sounds chaotic, though I don't remember that part :)
Somewhere along the line, my parents tired of the rushing and chaos and so we switched. Now we have a nice day at home and on Christmas Day, we can get ready and attend church and then enjoy the day with other family. It really is nice. Even though we are all much older, we still do things like our Advent calendars, the drummer boy full of chocolate, and the coin basket that I talked about in previous posts. After we open stockings and gifts, we have Belgian waffles for breakfast (although we've already eaten lots of other things from our stockings :) The morning it pretty much the only structured part of the day. We play with or use our new gifts, I've read a whole book on Christmas Eve, and we watch movies or play games. We have tacos for dinner and other than maybe running the dishwasher, we don't do chores or things like that! Now I just need to work it out so the laundry doesn't need done for two days ;) Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions? What does your Christmas day look like?
