I'm a big baseball fan. Well, not necessarily baseball in general, but the Detroit Tigers and my brother's teams. I'm really into everything related to those. My church is involved with an inner-city church/ministry and this summer, that church got grants to take the kids that come on some field trips. They went to the zoo, Greenfield Village, and a Tigers game. The churches that work with them were asked to provide chaperones to these events. That's the backstory to how I got to attend a historic event. At some point, I realized that the game they were going to - that my mom, brother, and I were helping chaperone - was a part of a big weekend. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Tigers winning the 1968 World Series. Since this past weekend they were playing the St. Louis Cardinals, the same team we beat in '68, they had a weekend of giveaways and, before the game on Saturday, a special ceremony with members of the '68 team. I was super excited when I realized that we were going to be at one of those special games. We got in to the park too late to get the giveaway (a replica '68 road jersey), but we sat behind the visitors' bullpen and the row behind us was all Cardinals fans. They obviously didn't want their jerseys, so they gave me, my brother, and one of the kids with us their jerseys! It made sitting in front of them for the whole game worth it :) Plus, we won!!! When I go to games, they don't usually win ;) It was an exciting, stressful (in the late innings) game with the best ending possible. Are you a sports person? What's your favorite? Do you prefer to watch the game on TV, listen on the radio, or attend in person? I actually like listening on the radio best. I'm kind of strange :) But I'll never turn down a chance to go see a game! Our newest retired numbers and members of the 2018 Hall of Fame Class!!! He was absolutely amazing!!!! Our home-run-robbing left fielder! :)
