Spring break is coming and summer will be here before we even know it. Some people have elaborate plans for these times but if that's not you and your friend group, what will you do with your time? I've got ten ideas to get you started and these might jump start your imagination to other fun things! 1. Make a meal together.
Plan drinks, appetizers, the main course, and dessert and then get together to make and eat it! There are lots of themed cookbooks (like The Princess Bride cookbooks and The Avengers Cookbook to name two) that you could use, or you could just find things that sound fun and yummy on Pinterest. Bonus: make it a whole day thing and go shopping together for ingredients before you start cooking. 2. Go on a picnic. If making a meal together is too much of a time commitment, then this might be a better option for you! Of course, I recommend doing both :) Have everyone bring something and pick a place you've wanted to explore for your location. (State parks can be a great option). After lunch, you can take a hike, fly kites, play frisbee, etc. 3. Take a day trip. You can take your picnic along for this! Where I live, Lake Michigan is only a couple hours' drive and I love taking day trips over to that side of the state. I am a huge advocate of playing tourist in your own state, so find something you've never done that is within a few hours' drive and go exploring with your crew! Taking a picnic for one of your meals helps make the day more affordable. 4. Window shop while eating ice cream. There are several cute little towns around where I live and I enjoy wandering through the cute shops. I don't buy anything (usually) but it's just fun to look. This is probably a better activity for a girls' day but if you saved the ice cream until the end, the guys might join you for that. 5. Do something on the water. If you have a river or lake nearby, they might have canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, etc to rent. Spending a few hours on the water is very relaxing and fun. I personally enjoy paddlboarding and canoeing. I even found a river that had some small rapids that people could tube down! Look around. You might be surprised at what is in your area. 6. Play Paint Twister. This is such a blast! You go online and buy a few cheap Twister games. The ones we got were so small that only two people could play, so know how many people you have coming and make sure you can split up guys and girls. Then get paint in the colors that the circles are and squirt some on all the Twister circles. (You don't need a lot). If it wasn't obvious, make sure you wear old clothes that you don't mind getting covered in paint. Bonus: get new white shirts to play in and make those the souvenir of the day! 7. Try letterboxing or geocaching. If you like doing things outdoors and exploring new places, this is the activity for you! It's also something you can do on your day trip. There are boxes/caches all over the country and world! 8. Create a scavenger hunt. With a bigger friend group, you could split into two groups and create scavenger hunts for each other. This is also a good way to explore cute little towns but the guys will enjoy it more. A mall is another great location and it would a be an activity for a bad-weather day. 9. Read a book and discuss it. This is for the groups who like to read. Maybe even those who don't love it would find it more interesting if they discussed what they read with their friends. Combine your discussion with #1 and make some food that fits with your book! 10. Watch a movie outside. This one requires some equipment but if you have a projector and a way to hang a sheet, you can do it! Make sure you bring lots of bug spray and you might want a small fan or two to blow bugs away but it's very fun to watch a movie outside. Bonus: while you wait for the sun to go down, have a campfire and roast marshmallows!
