Hello there! I hope your 2025 is going well so far. Mine has been... interesting.
I was really hoping that I'd spend January getting creative and coming up with all sorts of ideas for content. Instead, much of the month was trapped in an anxiety/panic episode. Not fun at all, nor conducive to creativity. However, there was still a lot of positives in the month of January. So I'm going to get you caught up and then we'll dive into what February is looking like.

I don't know how your December was but mine felt like the perfect mix of activities and rest. Not too full, but also it wasn't like I just did the same old things every week. It was really, really nice. I hope yours was too, even if it was busier than mine :)
What a year! I got to celebrate with so many amazing people this year. Seniors, newborns, and special family moments that they will never forget. My editing work grew in that I started editing weddings as well as portrait sessions! I got to work on so many beautiful galleries and I simply love my editing clients!
At Easter, we say, "Christ is risen! He is risen indeed, Alleluia!" We don't have a Christmas saying like that, but if we did, I think it could be something like this:
"Christ has come! He will come again, as He promised!" We remember His coming, His Advent, and we look to when He will return. I hope that you know the peace and joy that can only be found in Him, whether this a happy season for you or not. I know for so many, this time of year is painful. I know families who are hurting this year. But because Jesus came, (and because of Easter), there is still hope. There can be joy. If you're grieving, He grieves with you. If you're rejoicing, He rejoices with you. May we all rest in His peace. Merry Christmas, from me to you! (I'd love to hear what you are doing for Christmas! How do you celebrate? I'm making cinnamon rolls today for our breakfast on Christmas Eve, when we celebrate as a family.) Maybe it's just me, but when a dream dies, I tend to assume it's just dead. I have a bad habit of thinking things can only work one way, getting fixated on that thing, and then, if it doesn't work out, thinking it won't happen at all. Can anyone relate? Let me give you an example.
Happy Christmas! I like to use the British greeting sometimes because I like British things :) 2024 was a very exciting year for me and also a very difficult one. I'm starting to wonder if there is anything like an "average" year. You know, where a few good things and few hard things happen but nothing too extreme. I'm not sure that exists, at least in my life :)
That's quite the question! What motivates me to do... what? Run a business? Get out of bed in the morning? Bake way too many goodies? I guess I just need to decide what vein I'm going to take this and get on with it.
Since I started my business, I have not had a good option for clients who needed indoor photos. I don't have my own studio and I didn't know of any that I could rent. That has all changed and I am so excited to offer THREE different studio options!
We got some flurries in November, so there has been snow in the air. Here's hoping for a lot more! The decorations are up, the Christmas music is going, and I am ready for another wonderful Christmas season!
I want to change the format for these recap posts to be more like my quarterly updates. To that end, I am introducing various sections. I'll talk about what I've been loving, share some books, I'll still share updates on my goals for the month and photos from what I've done. With that in mind, please enjoy November's update!

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
