I'm not a poet and I'm not the best at deep words but days like Mother's Day make me want to try. So here is what I want to say to all the mothers. The mothers who are in the trenches of baby and toddler-hood. The mothers who are watching teens and young adults wander. The mothers who are watching their daughters be mothers. The godmothers and foster mothers and adoptive mothers. This is my feeble attempt to share what is on my heart for you.

One thing I got from my dad is my sweet tooth. And I love to bake, so that means I'm usually looking for times when I can make things and other people will help me eat the treats :) This means that I like a LOT of different treats. Maybe you can relate. But...
Getting to serve the same family through the years is a portrait photographer's DREAM! Forming relationships, seeing kids grow, celebrating over and over again with them... it's the best thing!
While I have "core poses" that I use over and over again, I don't try and recreate poses for siblings. Each person is unique and their session should not be based on what an older sibling did or did not do. So I was super surprised when I was editing Natalie's session to realize how much we did that was similar to her sister Nicole's session! Welcome to "I don't know what to write for an intro this month".
My friends and I used to send texts that would say "welcome to" and then proceed to share something random and usually odd that we were doing. Many times a photo would accompany the text. It was a little thing that we did but it was our thing, you know? I like having "things" with people. Is this just me or do you have "things" with certain people and groups as well? Which goes faster? Time... or grass growing in the spring? My dad said the other day that he thought the grass looked noticeably longer at dinner than it did that morning! Spring for me is a game with the weather. Can I squeeze in time to mow between rainstorms?
Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you that I have music playing CONSTANTLY! That makes this week's question a variable that changes every few minutes.
It's hard to believe that Hannah is graduating! My family has known her/s since before she was born and they were even in our homeschool co=op for a few years. It's always so fun to photograph young men and women that I've gotten to watch grow up :)
As a solo photographer, I don't often get a lot of behind-the-scenes footage, especially not with me in it! But at a recent senior session, the mother was taking a lot of BTS photos to send to her daughter's grandmother. I thought it would be fun to show you what it looked like to the mother vs. what the final image was!
What a fun question! Too bad I don't have an easy answer :) My days are so different that it's hard to find things that I do every day (besides things like sleep and eat). However, there are some things I do *most* days, so we'll go with that.
Did you know that there are studies behind having printed photos in your home? I've seen and experienced anecdotal evidence, but people have studied this and found some amazing benefits to having printed photos around the home for children to view.

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
