I saw a funny meme that said, "September is a lie. It's three weeks of August, one week of October, with a random weekend of April thrown in for no reason." That was so true this year! I mowed the lawn twice this month, once in long sleeves and I had thin gloves in my pocket just in case, and the other time in my swim suit top! Madness!

I almost laughed out loud when I read this question! Just one? I have a laundry list! Okay, okay, I'll pick one, but I'm still kind of cheating because I can tie a few of them into one sentence. Let's just say that my life has turned out almost NOTHING like I expected or planned. Can anyone else relate?
For a long time, editing help was out of reach for many photographers, especially newer ones, due to the cost of outsourcing to a private editor. AI editing software is helping make it more accessible to more photographers, but there are some things you still need to be aware of and things to consider when deciding what route is best for you.
How do you want to be remembered? Accomplishments come in many shapes and sizes but what we do with our lives is often tied to how we are remembered. We often don't think about this until much later in life, when it can be too late to change things.
I don't think it's morbid to discuss this because in thinking about it, we can make decisions and changes to our lives right now. If we want to accomplish something and our current course won't help with that goal, now we know we need to make some changes. It's been four years since I had this lovely family in front of my camera and things have changed a lot! Six kids 5 and under requires some creativity at times, because they want to MOVE! Greenmead is a great spot, since there is lots of open space.
"Have you ever experienced a season of burnout? What did you learn?"
I think this is a very interesting question but also rather vague. Because I've certainly felt overwhelmed and stressed, but is that burnout? Is there just one definition or does burnout look different for different people? That's why this is a discussion! I find myself praying for a change, a new opportunity, but then I think, "would I actually be brave enough to step into an opportunity if it presented itself?" I'm not sure I am, which leads me to pray for the courage to step into any opportunities God may bring. These are the things that have been swirling in my head the past couple of weeks, and then I started watching through the Patterns of Evidence movies again.
Washing and doing your child's hair is about so much more than just washing and doing hair. It's an intimate bonding experience between the parent/caregiver and the child. But many people with foster/adopted kids or blended families don't know how to work with hair that is very different from their own and are forced to outsource this intimate experience to others. That is where Cultivate Love comes in.
Happy Labor Day! We're celebrating with family and friends, a campfire cookout and birthday celebrations, and probably yard games. Pretty standard for us but what isn't so standard is we are potentially having 30 people at our house! What do you do for Labor Day? Have you ever done the Mackinac Bridge walk? I really want to do that some day!

Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
