This month has me thinking of One Republic's "I Lived". It was a lovely month filled with fun and good memories! And even though it was so full, it didn't feel rushed or overwhelming, which is so nice. Too often it seems like things are whirlwind busy or slow and easy. I enjoyed having a happy medium this time!

The young men and women of the Class of 2024 are celebrating big right n0w! Well, maybe not *quite* yet :) But their hard work deserves acknowledgement and celebration so I want to feature, again, the amazing high school seniors that I've gotten the privilege to work with over the past year!
These question cards have three levels. The first are kind of ice-breaker, surface level questions, and they go deeper. Well, this might not be a deep question this week but it's HARD! I can see it starting an interesting discussion.
One of my hobbies is photography. That might sound odd, since it's also my job, but the fact of the matter is that my work photography is quite different than my hobby work. Some people worry that when they make a job out of a hobby, they will lose the fun and the love for it. Thankfully, that did not happen to me and I can keep both!
I'm not usually one for adventures. I like my comfort zone and the familiar. A good evening to me is one with a book in my hand :) BUT... there have been things I've wanted to do in the past and, once I did them, I was so glad! It's helping me try other new things as they come up (like fly to California for a trip with my cousins!).
I'm not a poet and I'm not the best at deep words but days like Mother's Day make me want to try. So here is what I want to say to all the mothers. The mothers who are in the trenches of baby and toddler-hood. The mothers who are watching teens and young adults wander. The mothers who are watching their daughters be mothers. The godmothers and foster mothers and adoptive mothers. This is my feeble attempt to share what is on my heart for you.
One thing I got from my dad is my sweet tooth. And I love to bake, so that means I'm usually looking for times when I can make things and other people will help me eat the treats :) This means that I like a LOT of different treats. Maybe you can relate. But...
Getting to serve the same family through the years is a portrait photographer's DREAM! Forming relationships, seeing kids grow, celebrating over and over again with them... it's the best thing!
While I have "core poses" that I use over and over again, I don't try and recreate poses for siblings. Each person is unique and their session should not be based on what an older sibling did or did not do. So I was super surprised when I was editing Natalie's session to realize how much we did that was similar to her sister Nicole's session! Welcome to "I don't know what to write for an intro this month".
My friends and I used to send texts that would say "welcome to" and then proceed to share something random and usually odd that we were doing. Many times a photo would accompany the text. It was a little thing that we did but it was our thing, you know? I like having "things" with people. Is this just me or do you have "things" with certain people and groups as well? |
Hi! I'm Sarah!
I am a natural light portrait photographer. I've been taking photos since 2014 and would eat a smoothie from Tropical Smoothie Cafe for lunch everyday if I could. Thank you so much for stopping by. I blog about sessions, things I'm learning, stuff in my life, and information for YOU, my client. If you like what you see around the site, I'd love to work with you! I'd also love to connect with you on Instagram. I'm @sarah_jayne_photo :) Archives
